Race on between England, India for second spot

England drew abreast of India in the neck-to-neck gold medal race with 21 each but went ahead to second place on Saturday, Oct 9 as they bagged more silver and bronze medals.

Wrestler Geeta won the first women’s wrestling gold for India

Wrestler Geeta won the first women’s wrestling gold for India in the 55kg freestyle event to increase the hosts’ gold tally to 14 in the Commonwealth Games on Thursday.
Geeta beat Emily Bensted of Australia in the final. Lovina Edward of Nigeria won the bronze in the event.
