Curfew remained clamped in parts of Srinagar

Curfew remained clamped in parts of Srinagar on Thursday besides restrictions in Bijbehara, Anantnag and Budgam towns in view of protests and a strike called by separatists across the Kashmir Valley.

Curfew began at six in the morning in Srinagar and areas of Batmaloo, Bemina, Qamarwari, Kralkhud, Nowhatta, Khanyar, MR Gunj, Safakadal, Rainawari, Maisuma, Shaheedgunj, Kothibagh and Abi-Guzar.

Police and paramilitary forces have been deployed in large numbers across the state to avert possible incidents of violence.

People remained indoors as offices, schools and business establishments remained closed and vehicles were off the roads.

Law enforcement agencies have been advised to allow the movement of government employees and people seeking medical treatment along with their relatives, after they show their identity cards.
